도쿄의 중심지를 열두 번 반복해 그려서 엮은 책. ‘도로원표’란 어떠한 도로의 시작 지점을 표기한 장소를 뜻하며, 그 지역의 중심지 역할을 하고 있습니다. 도쿄의 도로원표 표지석을 각 그림의 중심에 두고, 스케일을 연속해서 두 배씩 확장해 점차 도쿄 중심지의 전체적인 모습이 보이도록 구성했습니다. 도쿄의 도로원표는 도쿄시 주오구 니혼바시 다리 부근에 있습니다.

From an outsider’s view, Tokyo feels vast—endless buildings spreading wide across the Kanto Plain, and Mount Fuji appearing beyond Tokyo Tower on clear days. Looking at this huge and complex cityscape, I wonder: where does Tokyo actually begin?
Wondering led me to the ‘Zero Milestone’—a marker that designates the starting point of all roads usually located near administrative centers such as city halls, representative local facilities, or major intersections. Tokyo’s marker is located near the Nihonbashi Bridge which in a way can be seen as the heart of Tokyo.
This series of eleven illustrations starts from Tokyo’s ‘Zero Milestone’. Starting from Nihonbashi Bridge, the frame expands outward from its very center. As the scale increases Tokyo’s outline is conveyed more and more.
